Dr. Giddens’ research, funded by the National Science Foundation, explores the role of technology in facilitating, detecting, and disrupting human trafficking networks. Specifically, she uses an interdisciplinary approach to understand how information technology is utilized in the criminal justice system to investigate and prosecute human trafficking cases and to identify machine learning techniques to detect human trafficking activity online.
