mc2 events to foster collaboration

The Office of Research and Innovation launched mc2 (Market-Centric Collaboration) to foster faculty collaborative partnerships across multiple disciplines and to create a smooth process for delivering their discoveries in the market.

“The Office of Innovation and Commercialization is a starting point for companies to work with faculty,” says Michael Rondelli, associate vice president for innovation and commercialization. “We help our faculty work with industry from conducting collaborative innovation, to bringing innovations to market.”

Events associated with mc2 will comprise three pieces: workshops, tours and social interaction.

Monthly workshops will cover the many support services that the Office of Research and Innovation offers faculty to help them succeed.

Monthly tours will allow faculty a peek inside multiple facilities on campus and encourage them to seek creative partnerships.

Social gatherings, in the new Gathering Place @ Avesta, will foster opportunities for faculty to brainstorm with each other and learn what support is available from the Office of Research and Innovation.

Many collaborative projects already are underway, says Tom McCoy, vice president for research and innovation.

“These events will generate even more. Anyone can be an innovator ― art, science, business ― it doesn’t matter,” he says. “By working together, we can move UNT further into the innovation space.”
