About Us

The University of North Texas managed Greenhouse Facilities include three major greenhouses: one on the roof of the Life Sciences Complex, a second outside of the Science Research Building (SRB) and a third at the Discovery Park campus. Both the Life Science Complex Greenhouse and the Science Research Building Greenhouse have four climate-controlled cells totaling 1600 square feet of growing space each. The Discovery Park Greenhouse Complex provides four cells with 1000 square feet of growing space each and is equipped with an expanded infrastructure to accommodate diverse growing conditions, including high ceilings to grow jojoba, cotton, corn and other tall plants. These facilities are used to support technologically advanced plant science research, where UNT scientists are studying how to increase agricultural productivity, with far-reaching effects in energy, food supply, nutrition and medicine.
