Expanding Core Research Facilities

Learn more about research in UNT’s BioDiscovery Institute on the College Tour.

As experts in their chosen fields, UNT’s researchers are dedicated explorers, pushing the limits to create discoveries and solutions.

Through UNT’s shared research facilities, researchers on campus and industry partners can access the latest high-tech equipment and spaces to carry out the most sophisticated projects and analysis. To help increase collaborations and provide access to these useful facilities, the Division of Research and Innovation has expanded its university-managed core facilities to capitalize on the brainpower to research, execute and commercialize new ideas.

The core facilities now available for researchers on a fee-for-service basis include the vivarium for animal researchers; the Materials Research Facility offering high-end materials assessment instruments; the Center for Agile and Adaptive Additive Manufacturing; and the new High Performance Computing services based upon the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin.

This year the division added three additional core facilities to UNT:  the BioAnalytical Facility (pictured above), the Genomics Center and the Greenhouse Support Services Facility. The three facilities were moved from their creation and incubation in UNT’s BioDiscovery Institute to now becoming available university-wide to all UNT researchers.
