UNT’s Division of Research and Innovation hosted University Research Day to celebrate research, foster collaboration and discuss discoveries and ideas shaping research.

UNT faculty members Shobhana Chelliah, Distinguished Research Professor of linguistics and associate dean of research and development in the College of Information, and Julie Leventhal, principal lecturer in UNT’s Honors College, have been named award winners in the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

UNT student Hillary Shah is a winner of the 2021 Harry S. Truman Scholarship, a premier graduate scholarship from the Truman Scholarship Foundation for college students pursuing careers in public service. Shah, a political science and economics major graduating this Spring is one of 62 students in the U.S. selected this year for the scholarship.

Diagnosed at 18 with Charcot-MarieTooth disease, commonly known as CMT, Allison Taylor (’20), who earned her biology degree this spring, has dedicated her life to researching a cure.

A new initiative administered by UNT’s Division of International Affairs is helping graduate students go great distances in conducting their research. The Graduate Research Experiences Abroad Travel Grant, or GREAT Grant, program supports international projects that enhance global perspectives by providing research experiences outside of the U.S.
