Collaborating Organizations

A consortium of universities and a community college, public agencies, an Indian nation, logistics providers, chambers of commerce, workforce development agencies, innovation alliances, and non-profit organizations has been assembled to form TIE. The consortium members are partnering to bring together diverse resources and expertise required for developing a sustainable innovation engine in TR. While these entities are well-established, and engaged in promoting an innovation-driven economy, their activities are loosely connected and largely uncoordinated. TIE will eliminate these barriers to collaboration among the consortium members by closing missing expertise gaps and linking their ongoing activities to maximize the Engine's overall impact. These organizations bring considerable diversity to TIE. For instance, UNT is both a Minority Serving Institute (MSI) and Hispanic Serving Institute (HSI). UTA and Dallas College are HSIs. The Choctaw Nation is the third largest tribal government in the US.

These participants enable TIE to include multiple research organizations, public agencies, leading logistics companies, workforce development agencies, economic development organizations, and a national laboratory (NREL). The Texas Research Alliance (TRA) and North Texas Innovation Alliances (NTXIA) enrich the region's innovation ecosystem by connecting companies, the public sector, and universities, and by focusing on addressing real-world problems and expediting the innovation-to-product-to-market process. The consortium includes the two metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), SODA and NCTCOG which provide planning and coordination services in their communities promoting economic development and smart growth. The consortium's industry members play a key role in guiding TIE's use inspired research and include: DFW International Airport; SDCIPTMA; Alliance Texas a Perot Company and Fort Worth Alliance Airport; and TXTA representing the trucking companies operating in Texas. Workforce development is a major thrust of TIE and collaborators include Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, Workforce Solutions for North Central
6Texas, Workforce Solutions of Tarrant County, and Oklahoma Works (six workforce development boards). Finally, the consortium will strengthen its expertise by including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a national leader in transforming energy through research, development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies
