Topic: CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) is a system of compliance levels that helps the government, specifically the Department of Defense, determine whether an organization has the security necessary to work with controlled or otherwise vulnerable data. On November 4th, the US Department of Defense issued version 2 of it’s CMMC security protocols. After almost a year of comprehensive edits and suggestions, this new protocol will be required for all DOD researchers working with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and to a lesser extent, an Federal Contact Information (FCI). In this information session, we will brief the UNT research community on what expectations, roles and responsibilities each PI has with regards to new security requirements. This security protocol will likely be picked up by other federal research sponsors.

Audience: For all current and future federally sponsored principial investigators intending to work now or in the future with CUI or FCI data.

Presenters: Vice President of Research, Mark McLellan & Chief Information Security Officer Charlotte Russell from the UNT system
